This post details the Life is Strange games, listed in release and play order, from Dontnod Entertainment and Deck Nine.
An emotional, atmospheric, story-rich choose your own adventure type of game that became better and better with each new release, Life is Strange started with episodic releases (with the first episode being free-to-play) before turning to a traditional “one game only” approach.
Below, you have all the games in the series, including prequels and one special release. While the developers recommend playing through the series in the release order, as listed below, you can also play the prequels first.

Life Is Strange
First Episode Released: January 2015.
Plot: Follow the story of Max Caulfield. A photography senior who discovers she can rewind time while saving her best friend Chloe Price.
The pair soon find themselves investigating the mysterious disappearance of fellow student Rachel Amber, uncovering a dark side to life in Arcadia Bay.
Meanwhile, Max must quickly learn that changing the past can sometimes lead to a devastating future. The episodes are not standalone, and they all make up the first game.
Episodes: 1: Chrysalis, 2: Out Of Time, 3: Chaos Theory, 4: Dark Room, 5: Polarized.

Life is Strange: Before the Storm
First Episode Released: August 2017. Prequel to Life is Strange 1.
Description: You play as sixteen-year-old Chloe Price, who forms an unlikely friendship with Rachel Amber, a beautiful and popular girl destined for success.
When Rachel learns a secret about her family that threatens to destroy her world, it is her newfound friendship with Chloe that gives her the strength to carry on. No longer alone, the girls must confront each other’s demons and together, find a way to overcome them.
Episodes: 1: Awake, 2: Brave New World, 3: Hell is Empty, Bonus: Farewell.

The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit
Released: June 2018. Prequel/Set-Up for the plot and characters in Life is Strange 2 Ep 2.
Plot: Have you ever dreamt of being a superhero? Meet Chris, a creative and imaginative 9-year-old boy who escapes reality with fantastical adventures as his alter ego, the Awesome Captain Spirit!
Captain Spirit is a free game experience set in the Life is Strange universe, but it is not vital for the main story. You can skip it, but since it’s free-to-play, why not play it?

Life is Strange 2
First Episode Released: September 2018.
Plot: Two brothers, Sean and Daniel Diaz, aged 16 and 9, are forced to run away from home after a tragic incident in Seattle.
In fear of the police, they head to Mexico while attempting to conceal a sudden and mysterious supernatural power.
Life on the road is tough, and now totally responsible for his much younger brother, Sean begins to realize that his decisions will impact their lives forever…
Episodes: 1: Roads, 2: Rules, 3: Wastelands, 4: Faith, 5: Wolves.

Life Is Strange Remastered Collection
Released: January 2022.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure
Released: October 2024
Plot: When photographer Max Caulfield finds her friend Safi murdered in the snow, her attempt to rewind time unlocks a shocking new ability, shifting between two parallel timelines.
In one, Safi is dead. In the other, she’s still alive… and still in danger.
To stop the killer, Max must navigate both realities before the next murder happens – twice.

There are two installations with the first easier and the second more challenging. Both enjoyable HOPA’s hidden objective part adventure games. Can be found on BFG and Steam not sure where else.
