City of Stories is a relatively new hidden object adventure game for PC and Mac, created by Grandma Studios and offering some fresh and much welcomed approaches to storytelling in these games.
All City of Stories games offer you multiple choices during your adventures, but the choices you make will influence the direction of the game and, ultimately, its conclusion. Amazing stuff, making every game in the series more fun to replay.
With these in mind, let’s check out all the City of Stories games listed in order below!
City of Stories: Stephan’s Journey
Release Date: October 2023
Plot: The first game in the new series puts you in control of a young man’s fate as he leaves his family farm behind for a try at better luck in a Tudor-era city.
Bringing a new approach to HOPA storytelling, the game focuses on choice making, with each choice determining how Stephan’s story unfolds: will he become a merchant, a guard, a dockhand, or something completely unexpected? Your choices will shape his future, which is awesome in my opinion.
While each new playthrough offers new options, you can also replay chapters and change your decisions to make sure that you choose what you feel is truly the best for Stephan.
City of Stories: The Professor’s Secret
Release Date: July 2024
Plot: In the new game of the City of Stories series, you guide Adele, a herbalist’s daughter, in chasing her scientific dream. She will disguise herself as Edward Black to overcome the limitations of a society that wants her to stay hidden.
Just like in the original, every decision you make will shape Adele’s journey and, ultimately, the game’s conclusion: will she rise among the great minds, or be forced to abandon her ambitions?
Solve hidden-object puzzles, make story-changing choices, and collect coins to upgrade your laboratory in this awesome new game in the series.
City of Stories: The Hunter’s Heart
Release Date: January 2025
Plot: The Hunter’s Heart follows Beatrice and her brother Liam, whose peaceful life in the forest is shattered when shadowy creatures from a mysterious book invade their world. As fantasy and reality merge, you must make tough choices to guide Beatrice through the adventure and help her overcome dangerous encounters.
With each decision you make influencing the conclusion, you’ll solve HOPA-style puzzles, minigames, and find new ways for Beatrice and her unlikely allies to face the threat. The story’s ending is in your hands.

While no other HOPAs created by the same developer follow similar “choices matter” mechanics (this is something new for hidden object adventures in general), there are some amazing series created by Grandma Studios, which I recommend checking out:
