Review of the top free word game app, WordBrain, an amazing puzzle game for mobile devices, no matter if you run Android or iOS.

Check out my review below for a quick look over the game, with details on how to play it and how to get more hints for free.

WordBrain is one of the most popular free word game apps, with loads of addictive and challenging word games, and you can get the full version to play for free!

The gameplay involves a puzzle grid to solve at each level.

You must find the right words to clear the board of all the tiles. The words must fit the relevant lengths of the empty tiles shown under the board in the ‘Words to Find’ section.

When you think you have the right word(s), swipe the tiles to make the words.

Remember, each tile must be adjacent to the previous letter – right, left, above, below or diagonal.

In this way, it does remind me of the Bookworm Deluxe, another one of my favorite word and puzzle games ever.

WordBrain – Clearing the Board

If you have found the right word, the tiles will automatically move to fill the empty tiles underneath the puzzle grid – as it has for the word ‘Music’ in the screenshot above.

This clears the used tiles or letters from the grid. The remaining tiles will automatically move down to fill the spaces left behind.

Each puzzle board has a specified way of solving it. So sometimes you might think that there is no possible way that there is a solution to a particular puzzle. But persevere – this is why this game is tricky!

And most of the time the answers to the puzzles are so simple you wonder why it took you so long to see them!

Sometimes it’s just because you have to clear the board of the words in a particular order or use the tiles in a particular way, so that the remaining tiles can move down to fill in the spaces before you can find the other words.

WordBrain – Review Conclusion

It’s the perfect mobile word game to play when you are out and about. Because, whether you have a few minutes to fill or a few hours, WordBrain has word puzzles that you can just pick up and play. AND it’s ad-free too! So there are no annoying interruptions.

Yes, it is simple in its gameplay, but it challenges you. And it is satisfying when you manage to solve the puzzle – especially if you do it without using the Hints buttons!

It is a simple idea in the way you play it. But as you play through each level, it gets increasingly challenging. And increasingly addictive!

If you do get stuck, and I have been there a number of times, you can tap on ‘Hint(s)’ – details on how to get Hints are listed below.

This will give you a letter in the empty tiles underneath, to you help you out.

The game is set out in packs with names like Penguin, Snake, Waiter, Turtle and Rat all the way up to Alien.

The first packs (Ant and Spider) are made up of 2×2 letter grids.

Next (Snail, Crab, Frog, Turtle) are 3×3 letter grids. Then 6 packs of 4×4 puzzle grids. And increasing in size up to 7×7 grids.

The puzzles also quite quickly increase in difficulty.

Most packs have 20 levels or word grids to solve, so there’s plenty of free word games to play.

You can play offline and online. This game app is available to play in multiple languages too, which makes it even better..

How to Get More Hints in WordBrain

If you do get stuck, you can use the hints button. To earn hints you can either:

  1. Solve all the levels in a pack (giving you 3 free hints).
  2. Leave a review of the game on the relevant App Store (10 free hints).
  3. Share with your friends when you complete a pack.
  4. Recommend it to a friend via Facebook or Twitter (20 free hints).
  5. Or, if you really can’t solve the puzzle, you can buy hints!

This game is free to play. You don’t need to spend money to unlock the levels though and you can find help online easily. Just solve all the puzzles in a pack to unlock the next pack.

WordBrain is a top word game app and brain teaser. It is easy to learn how to play, yet tricky enough to satisfy anyone who likes a challenging word puzzle game.

And as the game is broken up into nice little levels, it is easy to just pick and play as and when you have the time to fit it in. Very entertaining and well recommended!
