Grim Tales The Legacy Collector’s Edition
From: Elephant Games.

Plot: After being invited to the Christening of your sister’s son, you arrive to find a deserted estate in Grim Tales: The Legacy! After getting married to the love of her life, it seems like a happy ending is right around the corner for your sister. However, all is not well. The sounds of ravenous beasts echo through the halls of the once great estate and your sister is missing! Use your Hidden Object talents to track down her family and save them in Grim Tales: The Legacy!
Grim Tales: The Legacy CE – Features
The Legacy includes:
- Explore the gorgeous castle of the Gray family. But beware this mansion is full of family ghosts, wolf-like creatures and other creepy phenomena!
- Play mini-games and puzzles to progress through the castle. Collect key items to achieve your objectives. Clear hidden object scenes to find more useful items.
- Excellent artwork, melancholy soundtrack and an intriguing adventure story.
- Map: accessed by clicking on the compass (right-hand bottom corner). Shows you the areas you have visited. And those still locked for the floor/level that you are on. Hover your cursor over a visited area and you can easily see what objectives are still to be done.
- Hints system: the smart hints system is very handy for when you get stuck!
- 3 game modes: Casual, Expert and Hardcore. And you can switch modes at any time during the game.
- Collector’s Edition includes bonus chapter, concept art and strategy guide.
Grim Tales: The Legacy CE Overview
The Grim Tales story continues in The Legacy. You have been invited to your nephew’s christening at Gray’s Castle. The medieval style and feel of this location has been very well done. With great attention to the visual detail.
The persistent rain, the ghosts that haunt the castle and the ferocious wolves (or are they werewolves?). That come at you suddenly from the dark recesses of this awesome place! All add to the creepy atmosphere of this game.
There are lots of puzzles and mini-games through the game. With some (not many) hidden object scenes to clear. The games are challenging. Though now and again the items in the HO scenes didn’t always feel in-keeping with the medieval setting. They are packed HO scenes, with loads of items that are for the most part clearly visible. Though sometimes some items were a little difficult to spot. Luckily there’s no click penalty. And the hints system is very good.
Grim Tales: The Legacy CE Game Play
The map is useful not just for its jump-to function. (So that you don’t have to keep backtracking through the many locations). It is also good for being able to check the tasks still to complete at each location. This is especially helpful, when you have a large area unlocked, with a number of tasks to complete in a number of different locations. Which happened a lot in this game. There’s definitely plenty to do in this game, longer than the average HOPA game. So you are kept on your toes, to remember what key items you are on the look out for. This is why the map is very useful to get a full checklist of where you are at!
Grim Tales: The Legacy CE Review
In terms of the story, this one is probably not as polished as the first episode. However it is still compelling enough to keep you interested in finding out how it pans out. The game play is as good as, maybe even a little bit more difficult and challenging than in the Bride.
Overall, The Legacy is a solid sequel in its game play and storyline. A very substantial and enjoyable HOPA game. And well worth a visit to the creepy Grays castle!
