The Black Veil
Plot: The town of Dreadmond has been almost abandoned overnight. When you arrive to investigate, you find a strange illness taking over the remaining residents – an illness that makes them age in an instant! Time’s not on your side. Can you uncover the cause, or will you be the next victim?
Review
Good: Intriguing movie-quality opening sequence. Reasonably good storyline. Some interesting hidden object puzzles. With plenty of variety. Including Rube Goldberg style. And the mini-games were good fun.
Bad: Visually, too dark. Unengaging and poor dialogue. And a confusing new key on the fast-travel map (indicating interest, position or objective). Which was not very helpful!
Overall: A good detective HOPA game. With an ok story, a variety of puzzles and fun mini-games. But MCF15 failed to hit the mark in terms of challenging game play. As a result, this one is ok, but does not hit the MCF high standard. As set by games (especially the earlier chapters) in the Mystery Case Files series.
