Yankai’s Peak
From: Kenny Sun.
Genres: Puzzle, Geometric, Brain-Teaser.
iOS release: May 30, 2017.
Steam release: July 2017.
Description: A love letter to PYRAMIDS. A colorful PYRAMID-pushing puzzle game about the beauty and joy of being a sentient blue PYRAMID.
Game Play and Features
- Over 130 levels. Each a very tricky Sokoban-style pyramid-pushing puzzle.
- You play as the sentient BLUE pyramid. Touch a corner of your pyramid to make it a pivot point. Then swipe it, to swivel it. Use this move to push the other colored pyramids.
- You can push pyramids in 2 ways. Dependant on whether your pyramid is touching a side or corner of another pyramid.
- The aim is to get the other colored pyramids to their corresponding coloured triangle. Then get your blue pyramid to its blue triangle. In the image above, for example the aim is to get the Red pyramid to the Red triangle. Then the Blue to its Blue triangle space.
- There’s an overview map of the different levels you have unlocked so far. And this game is non-linear, so you can solve puzzles in any order.
- Unlimited undo button. Undo as many previous moves as you like.
- Or reset a puzzle completely. To get you back to the starting layout.
- There are no hints. But you can skip puzzles if you get really stuck. And come back to them later.
- The 130 levels are split over a number of worlds. You have to solve a certain amount of levels, in order to unlock a new world.
- Each world adds a new function or game play mechanic. To increase the difficulty and challenge.
- No timers or penalties.
Review
Yankai’s Peak, sequel to Yankai’s Triangle is an excellent brain-teaser. And perfect for those of you looking for a very tricky puzzle. From the beginning, it challenges you to use your brain and spatial skills. To think ahead a few moves, so that you can get all the pyramids in the right places.
The music and intro sequences adds to the fun and lightness of the game. And though the game mechanics are simple. You’ll be glad of the unlimited undo and reset buttons. As there are plenty of levels that will have trying and trying again before you get it solved.
This is definitely NOT an easy puzzle. But a very imaginative and challenging one.
