Review – Game Play

This third Agatha Christie hidden object game, continues in the same style as the previous HO game adaptation. See my Agatha Christie’s Peril at End House Game Review. With similar game play in the hidden object scenes, mini games and puzzles. As well as in the look and feel of the game. Including the comic book style cut scenes, used to fill you in with details of the back-story.

The hidden object games were reasonably challenging. Especially as you have the pressure of a limited amount of time to do them in. A limited amount of hints. And sometimes the items are very well-hidden or quite small.

The mini games and puzzles involved a variety of types. Mainly, completing messages by filling in missing words. Decrypting murder hunt clues. Pairing up clues with characters or items, to find further evidence. Or by doing a jigsaw type puzzle, to re-assemble a piece of evidence. This puzzle-solving element of the game was very good and involving.

Review – Plot

However, the Dead Man’s Folly game did seem to be lacking in it’s story-telling. And, unlike the previous Christie game adaptation. It didn’t make full use of the excellent source material. So if you don’t know the story, sometimes the tasks seemed a little random.

Overall though, this game captured the right look and feel. Evoking the famous Agatha Christie style. And the hidden object games and puzzle solving were plentiful, fun and enjoyable. So even though the plot was not as well utilized, as had been done in the previous game. It was still fun as a stand-alone hidden object detective game.

So if you like playing detective games with mainly hidden object games. Interspersed with puzzle-solving, I’d still recommend giving it a try. (See the free demo link included below). And let me know what you think about this Agatha Christie HO game.
