7 Mages from Napoleon Games is a new mage RPG game.
Released last month on app stores for iPad, iPhone and Android.
As well on computer, as an early access port. So you can currently, play this mobile version on PC and Mac too.

7 Mages RPG – Story
The legendary Roven Island is said to be the place where the gods rested after they created the world. The earth, water and air there are still imbued with magic, which lures magic prospectors. These prospectors conduct savage raids at regular intervals on one of the unnamed villages on the island, robbing the hard-working peasants of most of their harvest. And so, one day, the peasants put together the last of their coin and hire the mages to protect them.
7 Mages – Game Play
Over 30 types of enemy to combat. Most of them bringing new elements into battle.
With 3 types of spells to collect and use to battle the enemies: combat, elemental and musical spells.
The more experience each mage has, the greater the combined effect they will have in combat.
Solve challenging puzzles. With a new set of puzzles in each new location.
And collect essential items including food, weapons, musical instruments and potions.
Settings includes: Controls (use the default gesture controls or change to the classic arrow keys layout). Also select how many hints you want to get.
7 Mages – Game Play Review
A fantasy game with the story inspired by legendary movies, Seven Samurai and The Magnificent Seven. In this instance, it’s a band of 7 mages battling against rogue mages who are terrorising the peasants.
A large game that is played across 14 well-designed and excellently detailed environments.
Starting in the first ‘dungeon’ area, the city-wide crypt. Then moving through more eerie locations! From the Swamps and Skeldal Ruins. To a Dark Forest and a Labyrinth of Whispering Fish.
This is a tactical turn-based team combat game. With the added bonus of being able to split up your team of mages. So they can go off and explore or combat independently.
7 Mages – Overall Review
The game felt a little slow to start with. Especially as you are on your own at first. So for example, the combat system has fewer options and seems pretty simple.
But once you start getting more mages with you. And they move up the levels. You get a lot more options unlocked. Making the tactical challenge increase and more interesting. Especially when you can control the mages separately.
This is a unique take on the classic dungeon-crawler games. Combining turn-based combat, a lot of areas to explore, some solid puzzle solving and magical music too! And with the first 4 areas available to play for free. Definitely worth trying out, if you are a fan of classic dungeon-crawlers. Or if you like games like Legend Of Grimrock and Wizardry.
