Dark Parables 14: Return of the Salt Princess
Plot: The Old Town located beneath the ruins of Grak Kingdom. Has been rapidly turning into salt in the past few days. This transmutation appears to be caused by a mysterious species of white dragonflies. The Princess went missing a hundred years ago. The Grak Palace also inexplicably collapsed at around the same time. However, a girl who might be the Princess has been sighted in the Old Town recently. You (Detective) are requested to find the Princess. And solve the mystery behind these transmutations.

Review
Blue Tea Games return as the developer for this 14th Dark Parables game. (After handing to it over to Eipix from chapter 8. See below for my post detailing all of the series so far). And this is definitely a return to form for the DP series – in its style, game play and atmosphere.
Devoted fans of the Parables series are sure to enjoy the nostalgia of this new installment. If however, you’ve become used to more “modern” HOPA gamer-friendly features such as the custom mode (this game has 3 modes: Easy, Medium and Hard) or a fast-travel map. You may find DP14 a little frustrating. Also the game play is mainly fragmented hidden object games (FROGs). And hidden object scenes are re-used a few times.
But there’s also much to admire in The Return of the Salt Princess. From the beautifully detailed visuals. A spirited and engaging adventure story and characters. Some reasonably challenging puzzles. And plenty of Collector’s Edition collectibles. Including cursed morphing objects. And Parable collectibles, collect them all to unlock related fairy tales.
Overall, this is a good return for Blue Tea to the Dark Parables franchise. The “loss” of a few game features are made up for. With an interesting and beautiful adventure game. And plenty of good old FROG game play. This game definitely evokes the atmosphere and story-telling quality of the best installments in this long-running series.
